Seeking a creative, collaborative music instructor to teach grades K-5 general music and grades 6-8 band full-time OR K-5 part-time general music and a second person for 6-8 part-time band. Create engaging, hands-on, interactive music learning experiences for the younger students, start new 6th graders on band instruments, and build upon an existing “intermediate” band group.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging music curriculum tailored to various skill levels
- Teach music theory and instrumental techniques in a classroom setting
- Manage classroom dynamics to foster a positive learning environment
- Provide individualized tutoring and support to students as needed
- Collaborate with other educators to enhance the overall music education program
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly
- Maintain communication with parents regarding student development and performance
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s in music education
- 3 years experience working in music with students of multiple ages
- For band, ability to play at least at an intermediate level: flute, trumpet, clarinet, percussion, trombone, or saxophone and conducting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- NC teaching license in music (must acquire within 1 year of employment)
- Ability to teach both general music and band (or for part-time, ability in one of the areas)
- Creative and flexible
- Classroom management skills
- Organized and prepared
- Very positive “can-do” attitude
- Experience with differentiating instruction for both struggling and advanced learners
- A vision for building the music program over time
Schedule:
- 8-11:30 am on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays
- 8-9:30 am pm on most Wednesdays (early release)
- 8-11:30 am on full-day Wednesdays
- Start date: July 10, 2025

- State teacher salary scale plus 15% supplement
