1st/2nd Grade Teacher
The 1st/2nd Grade Teacher believes in the mission of TESG to educate creative critically engaged citizens using an experiential curriculum that extends the classroom into the downtown Greensboro community. The 1st/2nd Grade Teacher meets student academic learning goals through an instructional program that centers experiential education, design-based learning, and social justice. The 1st/2nd Grade Teacher has strong collaboration skills and believes in community-based problem solving. The 1st/2nd Grade Teacher designs integrated curriculum across disciplines to make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful. The 1st/2nd Grade Teacher fosters an inclusive environment for students of all abilities and develops a respectful and compassionate community of learners.
- Qualifications: minimum 4-year degree in education with a valid NC teaching license for the grade levels/subject teaching.
- Duties: Establishes inclusive learning environment in collaboration with grade-level teachers, EC, and ESOL teachers; designs and implements experiential and design-based learning across content areas aligned with state standards and Teaching Tolerance social justice standards; integrates arts and culturally responsive teaching methods; creates student portfolios and assessment narratives; partners with families via conferences, written and verbal communication, and virtual home visits (at the beginning of the year).
Preference given to candidates with dual certification in EC, ESOL or AIG.
