We are looking for a full time medical secretary for a busy Ophthalmology Practice in Waterbury AND Southbury CT as a float. Someone who is hard working, a team player who is interested in working in an environment with a supportive staff and management team, rave patient reviews, robust staff appreciation activities and recognition and a group of amazing doctors.
We are looking for a friendly personality with a working knowledge and understanding of EHR, all insurance, vision and managed care plans, etc. Experience checking patients in and out and answering busy phones. Must have excellent customer service skills.

The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing many hats, accustomed to a very busy environment, and enjoys working with physicians and maintaining, working their schedules. In addition, the day to day will require Front Desk responsibility, collecting copays and outstanding balances, assisting the call center, and managing a busy surgeon’s schedule. Spanish language helpful. All Patient Services associates are required to work a late night (usually out by 6/7pm), and an occasional Saturday. Time is either exchanged, or is OT.
You must be patient focused, have excellent keyboard skills, great attention to detail and skilled in patient service and satisfaction.

Requirements:- The Medical Front Desk is part of the Patient Services team, scheduling appointments, and maintaining appointment calendars. Monitors doctor’s patient schedule to insure good patient flow.
- Answers and responds to incoming calls, triage and distributes calls as needed.
- Receives payment and records receipts for services. Posts and balances daily batch. Makes bank deposits on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of Phreesia helpful.
- Observes patient and telephone flow; offering or requesting assistance as needed.
- Facilitates communication to the MD through the use of in-box, voicemail, and e-mails as appropriate. Maintains records of communications from patients, family members or caretakers of patients, referring and consulting MDs and vendors.
- Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Assists with Call Center as needed
- Assists in training of other Front Desk/ Call Center staff and is cross trained with understanding (it develops the employee's skill set and aids the Practice in efficiencies for patients).
- Must be able to travel to any site for the day, Waterbury & Southbury, or on occasion Orange & Branford as scheduled/needed.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year in a medical setting

- COVID Vax required
- Must be able to work 37.5 hours/week (M-F, occasional Sat)
(Reliable transportation): Traveling to/from Waterbury & Southbury (as needed) and to/from Orange and Branford.
Mileage is reimbursed after 90 days for traveling outside the axis to (ORG/BFD, very rare occasion)
PTO and scrub stipend after 90 days
Paid hands on (in site) training
If working a Sat: paid for the full day additional day off the following week
