The Eye Center of Central PA is seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists, optometrists, and physician assistants in providing exceptional eye care to our patients. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

The ideal candidate will be required to travel to multiple clinic locations (Williamsport and Bellefonte) throughout the week and work a range of hours (hours generally fall between 7am and 5:30pm). No experience is required for this position. We have an excellent training team that is committed to technician education.

Duties:

  • Perform preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient histories, and documenting chief complaints.
  • Conduct various diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and visual field testing.
  • Assist with contact lens fittings and teach patients proper insertion, removal, and care techniques.
  • Administer eye medications as directed by the provider.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems.
  • Provide patient education on eye health, contact lens wear, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Preparing patients for the provider examination and follow-up with specialized tests, as ordered by the provider.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred.
  • Although skilled, certified ophthalmic personnel are preferred, we will provide all the training necessary for the right candidate to succeed.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology or optometry setting highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology desirable.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmic instruments and equipment desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
