What are the responsibilities and job description for the Opthalmic Assistant/iLASIK position at The Eye Center?
Position Title: Technician
Department: Ophthalmic Technicians
Reports to: Physicians/Lead Technician
The Position: A Technician is a key team member responsible for the smooth clinical function of the patient exam experience from initial contact through completion including appropriate testing. This role requires a blend of clinical knowledge, customer service skills, accurate and timely documentation, and expertise in assisting the physician/optometrist. A high priority is to assist and communicate with the physicians and attend to patients in a caring and professional manner.
Technician Qualifications and Skills:
· Serve, assist and communicate with doctors and other team members.
· Provide caring and professional medical attention to patients of all ages, races, gender, ability, sexual orientation and religion.
· Accurately prepare patients for exams, record medical histories and findings, administer topical medications and ensure patients understanding of surgeries/treatment/procedures.
· Educate patients about their conditions, necessary medications, and future planning.
· Clean and maintain equipment and exam accessories.
· Regular, reliable, consistent attendance and willingness to travel to our remote locations.
· Other duties and tasks as deemed necessary.
And secondarily, we will be asking of this position to be versed in our iLASIK surgery care as well, to provide support when the iLASIK lead is absent or on vacation. Many of the responsibilities of this position are similar to those described above but a more specific description will be provided at time of interview.
