Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision examinations, diagnosis of eye diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and the ability to maintain accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and provide recommendations for visual aids.
- Maintain detailed medical records of patient examinations and treatments.
- Educate patients on eye health, proper care of contact lenses, and the importance of regular eye exams.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
- Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Provide pediatric eye care services as needed.
- Engage in sales activities related to optical products and services offered in the practice.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state license to practice optometry.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding and medical terminology relevant to optometry.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient education and engagement.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Knowledge of anatomy as it pertains to the visual system is essential.
- Previous experience in pediatrics or optical sales is a plus but not required.
