Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Charge Nurse to join our team at The Eye Institute of West Florida Ambulatory Surgery Center in Largo, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the facility, including coordinating breaks and lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforcing policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards.
- Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.
- Coordinates breaks and lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforces policies.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of Charge Nurse/management experience is required, preferably in an Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and/or hospital.
- Experience managing a team of at least 20 direct reports is preferred.
- Must have previous Nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: Operating Room (OR), ASC, Pre-Op/Post-Op, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) and AHCA (American Health Care Association) preferred.
Language Skills/Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of NextGen Database software and Microsoft Word.
Physical Demands
- The employee must be able to:
- Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally be able to push up to an excess of 200 pounds.
- Occasionally be able to pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds.
Working Conditions
Works in well-lit and ventilated surroundings including operating rooms, nurse's stations, procedure rooms, lounge, etc.
