Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and diagnose eye conditions.
- Provide appropriate treatment plans for patients, including prescribing corrective lenses and medications.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the importance of regular eye exams.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to inform patient assessments and treatments.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as necessary for comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometry, including new technologies and treatment methods.
- Assist with optical sales by recommending eyewear options that meet patients' needs.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state license to practice optometry.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and patient care protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on providing exceptional patient experiences.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of vital signs and their relevance in assessing overall health is preferred.
- Experience or interest in ophthalmology is a plus.
