Job Summary:
Each Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the agronomic health, maintenance, and daily operations of their assigned 9-hole section of the golf course. This role ensures the highest standards of playing conditions, supervises a dedicated maintenance team, and submits both weekly written reports on their own course conditions as well as weekly peer review reports evaluating the opposite 9-hole section.

Reports To: Directory of Agronomy, General Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all maintenance and agronomic practices for the designated 9-hole section.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, fertilizer programs, and irrigation strategies.
- Supervise, train, and manage the Assistant Superintendent and 10 person Grounds Crew.
- Monitor turf health, pest/disease management, and implement necessary treatments.
- Conduct a Weekly Peer Review Report evaluating the opposite 9-hole section.
- Provide weekly written reports to the Director of Agronomy and General Manager detailing:
- Turf health updates
- Course setup and playability
- Ongoing and upcoming projects
- Irrigation system conditions
- Equipment, staffing, and material requirements
- Fertilizer & Pesticide use logs
- Water testing
- Ensure compliance with Maine environmental regulations, pesticide application laws, and OSHA safety standards.
- Participate in capital improvement planning and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, or a related field (Required).
- Must obtain and maintain a Maine Master Applicator’s License within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an 1st Assistant Superintendent or higher.
- Strong leadership, team management, and training abilities.
- Extensive knowledge of irrigation systems, turfgrass maintenance, and pest management.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to track and report on key agronomic data.
- Ability to work year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in written reporting and documentation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
