What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hygiene Assistant position at The Family Dental Center?
The Hygiene Assistant's primary responsibility is to provide support and assistance to Doctors, Hygienists, and Dental Assistants in the clinical areas of the office. Help minimize unnecessary wait times in the hygiene bay while aiding in providing quality care to the patient. The Hygiene Assistant will perform a variety of responsibilities and be cross-trained in many or all of the following:
- Must be a Licensed Dental Assistant
- Greet Patients
- Must be organized and efficient
- Assist the Doctor, Hygienist, and Dental Assistant in preparing the patient’s chair. Prepare room after for next patient by cleaning chair and room.
- Assist in flow of patients. Includes bringing patient back for treatment.
- One of the primary goals of the Hygiene Assistant is to minimize unnecessary wait times, Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of all operatory equipment, instruments, chairs, and workstations based on OSHA regulations and our standards.
- Assist the Hygienist in charging dentition and entering clinical notes of the patient.
- Obtaining X-Rays: Quality images can be taken on most patients, by comforting and encouraging hesitant patients.
- On occasion, child prophys when needed
- Reviewing health histories and medications
- On occasion, child prophys
