Duties Synopsis
The Business Development Coordinator supports the strategic initiatives of The Family Place Utah (TFPU) to help fulfill the organization’s capital, operational, and programmatic financial needs.
The Business Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for relations with corporations, investors, and significant donors by cultivating relationships, strategizing, and implementing a tactical plan for advancement of the mission of TFPU and sustainability through fundraising.
The Business Development Coordinator must be able to create comprehensive giving strategies in order to collaborate with businesses and corporations. This will be done through strategic planning with the Executive Director (ED) for donor development activities including major gifts, corporate and business partnerships and giving, foundation giving, planned giving, and other monetary donations as needed. This position must be able to connect, build trust, and inspire donors to view their contributions and investments in the advancement of the mission of TFPU as expressions of their values.
Responsibilities
1. Implement the overall philanthropic vision and coordinate the strategic charitable giving strategies, performance, and reporting in alignment with the overall business strategy. Manages and coordinates all related corporate and business giving (in-kind, financial, and employee volunteerism)
2. Requires both strategic and tactical implementation of philanthropy initiatives.
3. Collaborates with ED to develop and implement an overall strategy consistent with industry best practices and in support of TFPU’s goals and objectives for corporate and business giving. Minimizes operational costs and maximizes charitable giving funds
4. Represents TFPU in the community as an ambassador for our services through activities designed to develop relationships with businesses and corporations.
5. Develops and implements a comprehensive impact reporting model for high impact contributions/investments made with strategic partners. Provides quarterly and annual report to ED on impact.
6. Measures and reports on statistics to assess effectiveness of philanthropic efforts in relation to goals and objectives. Prepares quarterly and annual reports to ED on philanthropy activities.
7. Excellent writing, statistical, and presenting skills for effective comprehension and communication.
8. Establish a strong understanding of TFPU’s services to effectively communicate the stories and impacts of our programs to a variety of audiences.
9. Demonstrate understanding of federal and state laws and tax regulations and benefits for corporate and individual donors to ensure compliance and maximize the benefits for all parties.
10. Prepare and develop high quality donor communication materials that demonstrate deep knowledge of TFPU’s programs and promote its mission (solicitation materials, thank you letters, power point presentations, spread sheets, and items for annual reports).
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in related field.
2. Minimum 3 years related experience/background working for a nonprofit or private company developing and supporting a philanthropy program.
3. Undeniable passion for philanthropic endeavors. Demonstrated ability to think creatively, strategically, and tactically with regard to charitable contribution programs and opportunities; demonstrated commitment to work and ability to deliver.
4. Exceptional collaboration, communication, and relationship building skills; able to facilitate, manage and work effectively across disciplines and levels.
5. Knowledge how businesses and nonprofits can collaborate resulting in mutual benefits.
6. Ability to deliver strong presentations, generate excitement, inspire action, and rally towards a common goal.
7. Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and accuracy; outstanding organizational and time management skills.
8. Ability to learn new technology platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Salesforce and One Cause preferred.
9. Strong external engagement skills with the ability to build coalitions with stakeholders to leverage our programs and potentially “co-brand” initiatives with the right strategic partners.
10. Confident leadership style, organizationally agile and resilient, flexible, and adaptable to changing needs and fast-paced work environment.
11. Proven track record in professional relationship building.
12. Pass annual Background Criminal Investigation (BCI).
