Position Summary: Collaborates with DVHRT Coordinator, Case Manager and multi-disciplinary teams to prioritize the safety of victims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides crisis intervention to reduce acute distress and to help stabilize victims experiencing trauma.
- Provides advocacy services to assist victims with interfacing with third parties including schools, law enforcement, health care professionals, etc.).
- Assistance with securing Crime Victims Compensation.
- Provides victims with information on Texas SAVNS (Statewide Automated Notification System) including registration and enrollment as requested.
- Provides information and referrals to victims to connect them with internal and external support services.
- Arranges and/or provides transportation for victims planned activities and unplanned activities in crisis situations; provides for Lyft or Uber transportation or utilizes the agency van to transport the client to their destination.
- Initiates phone calls to victims identified as high risk to offer services and support.
- Works with Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP) to initiate contact with all victims of court-ordered offenders to offer case management, counseling, resources and/or groups.
- Conduct supports group for victims focused on domestic violence intervention.
- Participates in case review meetings with High-Risk Team community partners
- Protects the confidentiality and integrity of the client’s personal information.
- Assists in providing data and/or statistical information required for reporting, outcomes and/or funding sources
- Attends agency related domestic violence and ethics trainings.
- Securely maintains accurate and current client files.
Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or similar and at least 2-3 years of experience in the court system advocating for victims of domestic violence.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear driving record.
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence.
- Knowledges of best practices in the domestic violence.
- Knowledge of the Dallas County criminal courts.
- Skilled in working with others to convey information effectively.
- Skilled in building rapport with victims of violence and trauma.
- Skilled in managing stressful situations (redirection, escalating, grounding techniques)
- Ability to organize, prioritize and plan effectively.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and organization skills.
- Possess adequate personal health, social maturity, and emotional stability to fulfill job functions.
- Possess dependable transportation and liability insurance coverage.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data management environments.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).
Work Location: Work must be performed at the agency office due to client confidentiality. Remote work is not available.
Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to work some weekends and evening hours for special projects.
