GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Camp NOVA is a 7-day, 6-night overnight camp for youth and adults living with epilepsy and/or other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Camp NOVA will take place from July 20th – 26th, 2025 at Camp Linwood-MacDonald in Sandyston, NJ (Sussex County). Camp NOVA is hosted by Epilepsy Services of New Jersey, an affiliate of The Family Resource Network.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a mature, motivated and medically trained individual who will be responsible for the medical needs of individuals with epilepsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities if needed. Should either of the two nurses hired to be on-site for Camp NOVA fall ill or need to leave camp for any reason, the on-call nurse is expected to arrive on-site in a timely fashion. The Nurse will be responsible for:
- Distribution of medication, as prescribed and documented by a physician for each participant
- Documenting medication administration for each participant
- Staffing infirmary
- Responding to all injuries and writing corresponding incident reports
- Review all clients’ medical records and provide input to the Director(s) and Counselors regarding plans of care
- Remain on-call overnight in case of medical emergencies
- Provide medical information and resources to Camp NOVA staff as needed
- Participate in staff training prior to the week of camp
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Camp administration
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Registered Nursing License, Current BLS Certification
EXPERIENCE: Two years of direct work with individuals with disabilities and their families preferred
