REPORTS TO: Manager, Family& Community Education Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for the day-to-day implementation of parenting education services and provides training, technical assistance and support for parents, volunteers, and community partners within the (Prince Georges, and Montgomery Counties), state of Maryland, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and surrounding counties. This work is defined by the parameters of The Family Tree’s strategic plan in these communities and requires the coordination and implementation of services within the region. The work hours are flexible to meet the needs of the community requires at least two evenings a week. Monthly travel to The Family Tree’s headquarters in Baltimore City is also required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides training, technical assistance and support for staff in The Family Tree’s parenting education model(s)
· Assist with implementation of annual operating plan to accomplish The Family Tree’s strategy for parenting education, support groups, workshops, and community outreach services in the for Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and all surrounding counties.
· Directly supervises Community Education Specialists, family volunteers and student interns.
· Identify and provide on-going consultation with community leaders and local partners.
· Provide program information to community groups and parents to promote child maltreatment prevention strategies.
· Prepare and implement workshops for parents/families to build and strengthen families.
· Schedule, coordinate and conduct parenting classes and training sessions on child abuse prevention and positive parenting within schools, communities, and local agencies.
· Complete all assessments and program tools as required by The Family Tree
· Utilize database system to track participation records for all participants and group sites.
· Attends regular staff meetings, trainings, and/or conferences.
· Participates in agency work teams as assigned.
· Meets weekly with immediate supervisor.
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences
· Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, and Education) preferred
EXPERIENCE:
· 3 years’ experience working in Human or Social Services
· One year working directly with families or children in home or group settings.
· Teaching or training experience preferred
· One year supervisor experience
SKILLS:
· Oral and written communication skills
· Knowledge of child development and parenting skills building
· Computer word processing
· Group Presentation Skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Must work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
· Must be prepared to travel to various program sites, and various communities within the state of Maryland and have a valid driver's license and car insurance coverage.
Salary : $60,000
