What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Coordinator position at The Family YMCA?
The person selected for this position will be responsible for working with the OD to ensure the successful coordinating,
scheduling, advertising and running of the in-person and virtual wellness classes. This person is responsible for
continuous high-quality customer service, which includes, but is not limited to meeting internal and external customer
needs, and for presenting a positive attitude toward the YMCA, its staff, and its programs. This individual must have
refined verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff,
members, volunteers, and guests. This individual will be required to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and
weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Know the names of all wellness staff, the type of classes taught and health and wellness programs offered.
- Coordinate, schedule, advertise and run the in-person and virtual wellness classes to promote retention of existing
members and engage new members.
- Collaborate and work effectively with all departments.
- Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
- Ensuring that daily operations adhere to all standards within the following areas: Staffing, Equipment Operations,
Facility Operations and Safety
- Ensuring that all exercise areas are properly maintained, equipped, and adequately stocked with supplies.
- Ensuring that fitness instructors follow all administrative procedures and guidelines as outlined in the YMCA
Employee handbook and wellness manual.
- Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate participation in classes and program.
- Market and promote department offerings and events through a variety of mediums.
- Handling member complaints and concerns quickly and effectively in coordination with supervisor
- Participate in the selection, training, and evaluation of group fitness instructors and personal trainers
- Taking initiative to solve problems.
- Attending meetings as scheduled.
- Working additional hours when necessary.
- Keeping a positive attitude with members and staff.
- Assume any other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Must pass CPR/AED/1st Aid certification by an approved provider within 3 months from original date of hire and
maintain while employed.
- Experience in wellness programming implementation.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
- Knowledge and Experience working as a Group Fitness Instructor and/or Personal Trainer

COMPENSATION:
Personnel policy governs work conditions and benefits. The first 90 days of employment are considered a trial period
at which time performance will be evaluated by the Chief Executive Officer.
