Zookeeper

Overview
As a Zookeeper, you will play a vital role in the care and management of animals within a zoo environment. This position requires a deep understanding of animal behavior, health, and welfare, as well as a commitment to conservation and education. You will be responsible for ensuring that the animals are well cared for.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for a variety of animal and bird species, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health.
• Conduct regular health checks and report any signs of illness or distress to veterinary staff.
• Assist in the training and enrichment of animals to promote natural behaviors and enhance their quality of life.
• Maintain accurate records of animal diets, behaviors, and health observations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations regarding animal care and habitat management.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members on conservation projects and educational programs.

Skills

• Willing to work some weekend and holidays.
• Must have good communication and organizational skills.
• Must be self-motivated, efficient and solution oriented.
• Must have a strong sense of accountability.
• Ability to work in a garden or natural habitat setting to maintain enclosures and landscaping.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to help unload trucks
