Pet Care Specialist: FULL & PART TIME POSITION(s):
The Farmstead Pet Activity Center is hiring Pet Care Specialists.

No previous experience working with dogs is necessary—we will train you in all you need to know.

- As a Pet Care Specialist, you are responsible for leading your pack establishing a safe, healthy, and dynamic environment to fulfill the psychological and physiological needs of the pets in your care.

Candidate Characteristics, Qualifications and Skills include but not limited to:
- Candidates must have an excellent work ethic.
- Must always arrive to work on time.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a group environment.
- Must be able to take direction and constructive criticism.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and actively interact with the animals.
- The Farmstead PAC is a fast-paced atmosphere and candidate must be able to accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Candidate MUST follow all Farmstead PAC policies and procedures.
- Must have their own transportation.
- Must be able and willing to work outside in the Alaska weather periodically throughout the day—we are an indoor/outdoor facility.
- Must be able to lift, and move objects, weighing up to 40 pounds for short distances.
- Previous animal care experience not necessary.
- Must not be allergic to animals.
- Must be comfortable working around all animals of different sizes.
- Must be able to take written and verbal instructions and perform tasks completely and expeditiously.
- Ideal candidate will have the ability to cover nonscheduled shifts when needed. For example, different seasons require additional help but may not warrant a set shift.
- Ability to proficiently speak, read, understand, and write English.
- Ability to use arms, hands, and fingers, to handle, feel, and reach.
- Ability to clean, sweep and mop facility floors; clean windows, walls, doors, sinks, counter tops; empty and dispose of debris from inside and outside of facility; stock supplies and clean/maintain storage areas.
- Willingness to perform other duties as required.
- Applicant must be willing to successfully complete a post-offer drug test.

Work Shifts:
- There are various shifts on various days available for this position.
- More than one candidate may be hired to fit current availability.
- Typical shifts are as follows:
- 5:30am-1200pm
- 6:00am-12:30pm
- 12:00pm-6:30pm
- 12:30pm-6:30pm
- Additional shifts may become available in the future.

- Monday to Friday (typical).
- Weekend availability (only as needed).
- Holidays (only as needed).
