SUMMARY

Forklift Operator will be active and inclusive daily to warehouse operation and all activities, this will include cycle counts of inventory, paperwork, on time breaks, lunches and all daily functions. Operator must be active and proactively address areas of safety opportunities. Operator will understand that this position is in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment, ensuring that safety and efficiency standards are not compromised.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Standup forklift experience required.

  • SOP’s to include : Staging finished products; filling out shipping records; lot codes; Allergens; bulk receiving forms; receiving records; stock rotation procedures; receiving procedures; packaging tracking; bakery and packaging returns; nonconforming item hold and release procedures.

  • PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety and legality of food.
  • Perform pre-shift safety inspection on forklift and notify supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Select cases of finished good product that correspond to the pick ticket assigned, placing a label on each pallet selected.
  • Responsible for reporting product damage.
  • Evaluate pallet quality to ensure pallets are not cracked, chipped or damaged.
  • Wrap full pallet with shrink wrap to the bottom of the pallet and prepare pallet for loading onto a trailer.
  • Work with the Inventory System to properly select orders, via paper ticket or scan gun.
  • Convey product from storage area to designated staging / shipping areas.
  • Sort and place product or items on pallets or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
  • Ensure the freezer & cooler are clean and clear for a smooth transition for the following shift.
  • o Put product away in proper location (maintain FIFO)

    o Ensure all pallet tags are accurate.

    o Monitor finished good shortages and pull, tag items needed for shortages from pack out.

    o Make sure all product is with correct stop information.

    o Maintain warehouse cleanliness (CLEAN AS YOU GO)

    o Make sure the floor and racks are free of debris.

    o That all pallets of product are free of debris.

    o Keep floor clear at all times.

  • Repair and salvage any torn or damaged product.
  • Notify Quality and verify product is not contaminated.
  • Use prep / pre-weigh station as first source to salvage product.
  • Then use the bakery as a secondary outlet.
  • Secure product and stage to be used ASAP.
  • Secure product and stage to be used ASAP.
  • o Tape product closed.

    o Record date of salvage.

    o And initial.

  • Support cooler crew as needed.
  • Maintain clear floor during work hours.
  • Remove broken pallets to outside location.
  • Sweep up cooler / freezer floors.
  • Be willing to assist with coverage in the absence of another Warehouse forklift operator.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and apply commonsense understanding to oral instructions as communicated by a Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
  • Must be able to work additional hours or beyond standard schedule with little or no notice.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.
  • Safety :
  • o Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.

    Follow lock out / tag out procedures.

    Make sure all safety guards are in place.

    Make sure all safety limit switches are operational.

    Report all safety hazards to Leads or Supervisors.

    o Use all required PPE (Proper Protective Equipment).

    o Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure safety of others and product.

  • GMP’S and HACCP :
  • o Follow GMP’s at all times. (Wear hairnets, clean uniform, etc.)

    o Wear gloves at all times while handling product.

  • Sanitation :
  • o Maintain a clean work area at all times.

    o Follow all clean up procedures during a shut down period.

  • Performs other duties assigned as required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and / or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Be able to stand for at least an eight to twelve (8-12) hour period.
  • Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 35 lbs (Constantly).
  • Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 50 lbs (Occasionally).
  • Be able to push and pull a wheeled pallet jack or rack to move items weighing up to 400 lbs.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist up to 50 lbs (Occasionally).
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and will include, but not be limited to, production machinery, computers, printers, telephones, and normal communication. Hearing protection will be required for all in plant activities.
  • Associates working certain line positions are required to adhere to the rotation schedule and move from position to position performing different task on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to work under various temperatures ranging from typical 45 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
