SUMMARY

As Head of School at Greenleaf Neurodiversity Community School, (a project of Easterseals Central Texas and member of The Fedcap Group), you will bring visionary and strategic leadership to creating an inclusive, innovative, and nurturing educational environment that empowers neurodiverse students to reach their full potential. You will guide a dedicated team of educators and staff, fostering strong partnerships with families and the broader community and championing educational best practices tailored to neurodiversity. You will ensure the academic, social, and vocational success of every student through exceptional programming, supportive services, and effective operational management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Vision

  • Provide leadership aligned with Easterseals Lonestar's mission and The Fedcap Group’s Education Practice to cultivate a culture of excellence and scale at Greenleaf Neurodiversity Community School.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives, continuously refining the school’s mission and educational approach to reflect current best practices and emerging trends in neurodiversity.
  • Advocate for and promote an inclusive and supportive school culture that empowers neurodiverse learners, their families, and staff.

Educational Programming

  • Oversee the development and delivery of a curriculum designed to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of neurodiverse students, incorporating individualized education plans (IEPs), evidence-based instructional strategies, and sensory-friendly learning environments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state education regulations, including special education laws, while maintaining the highest standards of educational programming.
  • Stay abreast of research and best practices in neurodiversity education and lead efforts to continuously improve the school’s pedagogical approach.
  • Expand and scale enrollment in the 18-21 transitional program, providing robust support to help students transition to adulthood, vocational training, or higher education opportunities.
  • Expand enrollment in vocational training programs that result in industry-recognized certificates with a focus on establishing clear job placement metrics and tracking the success of student employment outcomes.

Team Management and Professional Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled, and diverse team of educators, therapists, and support staff committed to the school’s mission.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations for all faculty and staff, ensuring they receive regular training in neurodiversity awareness, specialized teaching methods, and other relevant professional development.

Student and Family Engagement

  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with students and their families, serving as a visible and approachable leader who is responsive to their needs.
  • Work with families, school staff, and external providers to develop and implement comprehensive support plans that address each student’s educational, emotional, social, and career-ready skills development.

Operational and Fiscal Management

  • Develop and oversee the school’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining high-quality educational programming and supportive services.
  • Collaborate with Easterseals Lonestar leadership to identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and other sources of revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational, safety, and health standards, creating an environment that prioritizes student and staff well-being.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for the school, building strong partnerships with local, state, and national organizations that support neurodiversity and inclusive education.
  • Advocate for policies, resources, and programs that support the needs of neurodiverse students, promoting the mission and impact of Greenleaf Neurodiversity Community School.
  • Foster collaborations with local businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to enhance opportunities for students, including vocational training, internships, and community engagement activities.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. 

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in a school setting, preferably with experience in neurodiverse education or special education. Proven success in managing school operations, including curriculum development, staff supervision, budget oversight, and community engagement.

Knowledge: Expertise in neurodiversity and evidence-based practices for teaching neurodiverse students. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to special education.

Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.

ABOUT US

Greenleaf Neurodiversity Community School was launched in 2019 by Easterseals Central Texas as a charter school authorized by Austin ISD to provide services for neurodiverse students ages 18 to 21 transitioning to adulthood. Easterseals Central Texas provides quality, person-centered services and support to over 8500 children and adults as well as their caregivers to promote independence and create opportunities for people with disabilities to pursue their hopes and dreams. Easterseals Central Texas joined The Fedcap Group in 2018.
