Position Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Patient Accounts to oversee our pre-certification processes and ensure exceptional financial coordination for our fertility services. This role will involve leading a team dedicated to managing insurance pre-authorizations, financial counseling, and patient communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Certification Management:
- Oversee the pre-certification process for fertility treatments, medications, and procedures including IUI, IVF, TESE, MESA, FET, embryo biopsy, donor embryo cases, and gestational carriers.
- Verify insurance benefits and effectively communicate coverage and self-pay options to patients.
- Obtain necessary authorizations for diagnostic tests such as HSG, sonohysterograms, semen analysis, ultrasounds, and endometrial biopsies.
Financial Coordination & Patient Communication:
- Lead financial counseling initiatives, discussing treatment costs with patients to ensure understanding and transparency.
- Relay financial clearance details to staff using Athena and ReSource systems.
- Monitor patient accounts to ensure timely charge entry and billing accuracy.
- Conduct follow-ups with patients regarding outstanding balances, co-pays, and payment plans.
Scheduling & Coordination:
- Manage scheduling, authorizations, and pre-certification of surgical procedures, ensuring all pre- and post-operative visits are organized.
- Coordinate with surgical centers and insurance providers to secure pre-approvals.
Administration & Compliance:
- Ensure that patient consents and financial documentation are accurate and current.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Support and train new team members in the Financial Services Representative (FSR) team as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of experience in healthcare insurance, medical billing, or financial services within a provider setting.
- Strong understanding of medical insurance, pre-authorization processes, and patient financial counseling.
- Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and medical billing software.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to clearly explain financial obligations.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
