Responsibilities
- Performs assigned compliance duties, including; projects, research and recordkeeping following standardized workflow and department SOPs; meeting compliance metrics/goals
- Maintain standard operating procedures for the Compliance Assistant role
- Reads and interprets City ordinances, LARA’s Marijuana Laws and CRA Administrative Rule Sets, keeps up with the latest regulatory information and applies updated information to Company protocol and compliance enforcement efforts
- Assists Director with implementation of the Compliance Enforcement System, including preparing notices of noncompliance for individuals or stores and maintaining accurate recordkeeping
- Assists Director with filing, processing and implementing internal process change forms in response to a change in State operational requirements and process improvement changes
- Uses ClickUp Project Management Software for task management, project collaboration, intake and responses to protocol requests and compliance questions
- Protocol Management
- Create Company protocols (including SOPs) and audits them following an annual protocol audit schedule for all staff, administration, retail and processing activities; perform off schedule protocol updates as needed or required
- Conducts in-store protocol audits by traveling to Company store locations and observing standard operating procedures in real time
- Staff Training Management
- Manages and regularly audits Trainual users, permissions, documents, folders, accessibility; implements new features and functions offered by Trainual
- Issues protocol training to all in store staff in Trainual following an annual protocol training schedule; performs training completion check-ins and follow up; maintains accurate training completion records
- Conducts training assessments to analyze the success and retention of protocol
- Reports training results and assessments to the Director and assists in the development and implementation of training/protocol improvement plans to enhance training success and retention
- Communicates with HR regarding new hires and promotions, registers staff accordingly in Trainual; sends out new hire onboarding/role training
- Conducts in store training of protocol as needed by traveling and presenting training materials following the onsite compliance training framework
- Creates and publishes educational articles on a regular basis in Jostle to maintain continuing education and awareness of protocol updates and compliance matters
- Assists with conducting Internal Inspections across all Company stores using internal inspection checklists, communicates action items for store managers and other administrative collaborators to address
- Engages in Company meetings and assist with presentations conducted by the Department; prepares agendas and CRA DAR summaries for monthly compliance meetings
- Attends CRA Education Sessions for continuing education
- Reviews and records completed CRA and BFS inspection reports
- Communicates with state and local officials as needed
- Assists with licensing related duties as needed including but not limited to; clerical work for license renewal or completion, conducting licensing/compliance research, processing incident reports, reporting compliance matters to the CRA, and recordkeeping actions
- Ensure the company performs in compliance with all local and state laws, rules and regulations
- Other licensing and compliance duties as assigned

- State & Municipal Law - TFS/MM operates in full compliance with all rules and regulations enforced by the State of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). Further, TFS/MM operates in full compliance with the rules and regulations of each municipality they are located within. To operate in compliance with such rules and regulations, employees are required to follow all policies created and enforced by and within TFS/MMI facilities

- This job role requires management of 2 individual cannabis companies (The Fire Station, LLC and Midnight Management, Inc) that cumulatively operate 10 licensed marijuana establishments and employ over 200 staff members
- 40 hours per week as assigned, M-F
- Hours will vary between 8 am - 5 pm
- Work location will be either in office or hybrid remote, which requires approval by HR and LC Director
- Must be available to address or redirect compliance concerns/inquiries from employees outside of normal working hours by email/phone
