Job Overview
As an After School Adventure Guide, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating exciting and engaging activities for children after their regular school hours. Your primary goal is to ensure the safety, enjoyment, and development of the children under your care while fostering an environment that encourages exploration, learning, and positive character development. This position requires someone with strong leadership skills, initiative, a genuine love for working with children, and a commitment to following Jesus.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Take charge of the after-school adventure program and lead a group of children in various activities. Provide clear instructions, guidance, and support to participants, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Activity Planning: Develop and implement a diverse range of age-appropriate activities that promote physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth in children. These activities may include games, sports, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, nature walks, and other interactive experiences.
- Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during the program. Maintain a constant awareness of the participants' whereabouts and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Initiative: Demonstrate a proactive attitude in planning and organizing activities, utilizing available resources creatively, and adapting activities to suit the needs and interests of the children.
- Child Engagement: Interact with children in a warm and nurturing manner, fostering a positive and supportive environment where children feel encouraged to explore and express themselves freely.
- Character Development: Encourage and model positive values, such as respect, kindness, empathy, and responsibility, reflecting the teachings of Jesus.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians, school staff, and program coordinators to keep them informed about the program, children's progress, and any concerns that may arise.
- Spiritual Development: We believe that each and every one of us is created by God with and for a unique purpose. As we walk in the way of Jesus and develop our own relationship with him, we model his life in practice and play.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with children and a genuine love for their well-being and development.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a group of children effectively.
- Initiative and creativity in planning and organizing engaging activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Jesus for faith-based programs.
- Ability to maintain a safe and secure environment for children at all times.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of the children and program.
- Previous experience in childcare, education, camp counseling, or related fields is an advantage.
- At least 21 years old (to be able to drive vehicles)
Must have or willing to obtain certifications
- Negative TB Test
- STARS ID
- Cleared Background Check
- Current CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens training
- Current Food Handlers Permit
- 30 Hours Childcare Basic Training within 90 days of hire
- 10 hours of ongoing training/year
- Maintains a valid Washington Driver’s License and a clean driving record
**SIGN ON BONUS**
- For applicants who meet the above certifications requirements before hiring are eligible for a $300 bonus after a 30 day probationary period.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
