SUMMARY
This position is focused on supporting the work of the Church Activities Department, which supports branch activity. The primary work of this department is helping inspire branches about the healing mission of Church and the healing impact each branch can have on its community. This position supports a wide range of the department’s activities from communicating with branch officers to ensuring contact information is current and accurate and scheduling workshops, etc. This position will often be the first line of communication with a branch. It will also carry out the communication and administrative procedures for processing applications, from start to finish, submitted by Christian Science groups, Christian Science societies, branch churches for advertising in The Christian Science Journal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitating initial contact and relationship-building with branches (40%)
- Conduct check-in calls with branches to connect them with the resources we offer and assess if there is additional support needed
- Respond to requests for workshops (Engaging Youth in Church, Reading Room, Church of Healers, Why Church? etc.). Coordinate with those church contacts to coordinate timing, determine who should be involved in the workshops, schedule the meetings, and ensure the churches have the information they need to prepare for the workshop.
- Reach out to branches who may need additional support or we may have lost contact with
- Process Journal/Herald listing requests from branches and societies
- Partner with JSH and Treasurer’s office to guide churches through the process of being recognized, changing their listing, or disbanding
- Oversee the Annual Questionnaire process (10%)
- Oversee the annual distribution and retrieval of questionnaires sent to branches worldwide that supply TMC/CSPS with contact information critical to communication with the Field.
- Work with service depts to determine best possible implementation of current technology to communicate economically and efficiently with branches/Reading Rooms/and groups.
- Generate branch/Reading Room/group reports from Salesforce for client departments, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, and manager as needed.
- Stay current on Salesforce and Enterprise capabilities and updates manager and JDS staff accordingly
- Input branch information into Salesforce
- Manage data entry associate to insure accurate and timely entry of AQ responses
- Provide important logistical support for team travel and events (15%)
- Use Tallie to create and submit expense reports from team travel, CSO lectures, summits, and to clear credit card statements
- Support visa application process for international travel
- Coordinate Church Activities communications with branches and partner departments (10%)
- Create and manage Trello cards that track each communication and its review process.
- Coordinate with service departments that build and send these communications
- Serve as point person for questions coming in from MBEL and CCC about church
- Work closely with CCC to help refine and update their responses as needed
- Supports disbanding branches (20%)
- Ensures disbanded branches receive the Disbanding Guidelines and follows up with the branch immediately after removing ad from the Journal Directory
- Tracks required documentation needed from the branch before file can be closed out permanently. This includes Future Legacies form, final bank statement, dissolution of corporate status from the state, and the Deed of Gift form
- Answers questions about the disbanding process as outlined in the Disbanding Guidelines
- Works closely with OGC and the TO regarding tax-exempt status and fiduciary needs
- When needed, assists manager with special projects. (5%)
- Identify current and future needs of the Field, and recommend solutions designed to address the needs (i.e. calls to TMC Communications Coordinators, branch contacts, conference calls, letters to the Field and workshops).
- Report status of project input at key points, as well as compiles wrap-up reports at the completion of each project.

Regular Contacts
Most departments of The Mother Church and The Christian Science Publishing Society, with regular contact with Board of Trustees, TMC Communications Coordinators, ISD, Customer Service, Treasurer’s Office, OGC and TSG. Also interacts regularly with individual members representing groups, officers of societies and churches worldwide.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required. Four or more years professional work experience with three or more years serving in Branch Churches required. Several years of experience in customer service, communications, or related fields is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
The incumbent should be familiar with and adept at communicating the mission and purpose of The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
Technology Skills
Must have an ability to adapt to new technology, software, and databases. Proficiency with Google Suite is required.
Work Environment
This position regularly works in an office environment.
Christian Science Information
Membership in The Mother Church, Primary Class instruction, and active branch church/society membership required.
