We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Aquarium Maintenance Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for aquatic ecosystems and a strong understanding of maintaining both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. This role involves the care, cleaning, and maintenance of aquariums in various settings, ensuring the health and well-being of aquatic life.
Responsibilities:
Aquarium Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning of aquarium tanks, including scrubbing algae, cleaning filters, and vacuuming substrates. Maintain a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment for aquatic life.
Water Quality Management: Monitor and maintain optimal water parameters, including temperature, pH levels, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.
Timekeeping: Maintain a strict and punctual schedule for aquarium maintenance tasks. Ensure that all cleaning, feeding, water testing, and equipment checks are performed promptly and on schedule. Adhere to predetermined maintenance routines to create a consistent and stable environment for aquatic life.
Aquascaping: Design and maintain visually appealing aquascapes, including the arrangement of plants, rocks, and decorations. Trim and prune aquatic plants as necessary.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain aquarium equipment, including filters, heaters, pumps, and lighting systems.
Customer Interaction: Interact with clients providing information about the aquarium's inhabitants, maintenance schedule, and answering any questions they may have.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, water parameter readings, and any issues or incidents.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures or water quality crises, to mitigate risks to aquatic life.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of aquatic biology, water chemistry, and different aquatic species.
- Ability to comfortably drive and oporate a large cargo van.
- Familiarity with various aquarium equipment and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy aquarium equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Previous experience in aquarium maintenance or related field preferred.
Working Conditions:
The Aquarium Maintenance Professional may work in a variety of settings, including public aquariums, private homes. The role involves working with aquatic animals, exposure to water, and occasional outdoor work.
