Flight Instructor - CFI & CFII
A qualified CFII will show us independence, excellent teaching skills and a passion for both aviation and teaching. We prioritize those applicants who have accrued substantive dual-given time, but require at least 100h of previous in-flight teaching experience. We’re most interested in those with safe flying and driving records, excellent people skills and previous experience in customer service and educational or instructional industries.
Position Duties
- Perform flight, ground and simulator instruction in accordance with FAA guidelines
- Provide customer service-oriented and professional instruction in accordance with company guidelines procedures and policies
- Document student progress and log all flight, ground and simulator instruction in accordance with company guidelines
- Participate in instructor development and training as required
- All other duties needed to ensure student successfully and safely pass all stage checks and FAA checkrides
- Maintain a safe, professional attitude toward all current and future customers as well as other local pilots, co-workers and community members
- Our CFIs are expected to wear uniforms and both dress and groom to professional standards. We do not care about tattoos, piercings or hair color, but CFIs must maintain good hygiene
- CFIs employed by The Flight School at Meadow Lake are expected to attend regular safety meetings and currency training, as well as attend and teach ground classes
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualification
- Commercial ASEL Pilot Certificate
- Instrument Rating
- CFI Certificate with Instrument Rating
- U.S. Citizenship or Work Authorization
Preferred Qualification
- At least 2 years instructing experience
- 200 hours dual given
Compensation
Starting at $22 per hour for every hour worked. We pay for all hours worked, not just flight time or instruction-given. Our CFIs typically work less for the same amount of pay as comparable contract-paid positions. If you are at work for eight hours, you are paid for eight hours. Raises are automatic at major merit-based milestones, including five consecutive check-ride passes endorsed, achieving 2y as a CFI or logging 1000h of dual-given.
Schedule
This is a full time position with approximately 40h of work per week. Our CFIIs work 8-10h shifts, as scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Pay is guaranteed for a shift 24 hours in advance.
