Certification Coordinator – 2144
Legal Specialization & Education – Tallahassee, FL
Min starting salary: $39,768.45 with an excellent benefits package including employer paid pension contribution | Employees of The Florida Bar are eligible to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
Summary function: Performs a variety of high level administrative and program duties related to legal specialization and education. Certification Specialists evaluate applicant qualifications for board certification and recertification in preparation for Committee evaluation, prepare all materials related to confidential files for those Committee evaluations, and work with Certification Committees to support creation and administration of the annual exam. This position responds to specific inquiries regarding all aspects of these areas from current and prospective members and requires a thorough understanding and knowledge of each Certification area's Rule and those of the Board of Legal Specialization and Education. Certification Specialists ensure that certification exam administration deadlines are met by the committees, organize and prepare for Certification Committee meetings, and must communicate effectively to maintain working relationships with current and prospective certified members.
Required minimum education: Bachelor's Degree (proof of degree required at interview).
Additional progressively responsible administrative experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. (6 years)
Required minimum professional work experience: Two (2) years of administrative experience.
Knowledge of:
- Professional administrative procedures and practices
- Legal terminology relevant to certification practice areas
- Public relations techniques
- Proper punctuation and grammar usage
- Adobe Acrobat
Skilled in:
- MS Word proficiency
- MS Excel proficiency
- Database usage proficiency (Outlook or similar databases)
Ability to:
- Manage and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written
- Tactfully manage difficult situations using sound independent judgment and discretion
- Consistently provide an excellent service-oriented attitude
- Travel
- Organize and prioritize work and coordinate multifaceted projects within set deadlines

- Must be able to travel; work overtime when necessary; and manage stressful situations.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, hear and converse over the telephone, and key/work
frequently on a computer.
