Job Summary
Provides technical support for server operating systems and application environments for the entire enterprise as found in a central IT organization; it also includes critical roles as recommending strategic technology direction; designing system environments; and overseeing the management of multiple systems and projects.
- Functions as the Azure Cloud Administrator & Cloud Architect. Provides architectural design and oversees that the university policies and best practices are followed and implemented. Supports and administrates other systems as required, including, but not limited to the Azure functions, web services, file servers, SQL services, server clusters, Virtual servers, departmental servers, and storage services.
- Researches, recommends, plans and implements new server technologies for Division of IT.
- Creates programs to automate, tests or improve the windows server environments.
- Ensures that systems and data security requirements are met by adhering to security guidelines and processes. This includes: monitoring system logs, installing applicable patches in a timely manner, hardening servers and doing periodic vulnerability scans.
- Works on automation of tasks and implementation of Devops methodology in the cloud.
- Manages the direction and support for FIUs hybrid cloud storage and backup infrastructure.
- Leads the support efforts and infrastructure for the enterprise and customer cloud environments.
- Audits all Azure configurations and designs, to make sure they meet established DoIT cloud policies.
- Reviews Azure environments for efficiencies, especially cost saving and make recommendations.
- Ensures proper budget alerts are placed for all subscriptions and/or appropriate resource groups.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technology field and six (6) years of experience in systems administration; OR twelve (12) years of experience in systems administration; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. One (1) year of supervisor experience. Three (3) years of experience in central IT or equivalent enterprise experience.
Departmental Requirements
Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud administration.
Desired Qualifications
- Experienced with Microsoft Active Directory administration.
- Experience with Windows server administration.
- Experience in server virtualization.
