The Florida State Fair Authority is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to help maintain our beautiful fairgrounds. If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in creating well-kept landscapes, and have experience with groundskeeping, we want to hear from you! This role involves planting, trimming, mowing, debris removal, and general landscape maintenance to keep our grounds looking their best year-round.
SUMMARY
Maintains grounds by planting, trimming, mowing, and caring for plant life. Ensures cleanliness by collecting and hauling debris. Operates landscaping equipment safely and supports various projects. Performs grounds maintenance, pest control, and light custodial duties as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supports a beautiful landscape environment by ensuring proper quality of care of plant life, including all planting, fertilizing, trimming of trees and hedging of shrubs, planting flower beds and setting up flowerbeds, and mowing grass areas.
Ensures a high level of grounds protection / policing by collecting, loading, hauling trash and cuttings.
Operates manual and powered grounds keeping equipment while following all safety measures.
Supports department by assisting in various landscaping projects.
Performs grounds maintenance work including spraying for insects and weeds.
Supports additional needs for any light housekeeping or custodial duties as necessary.
Other additional related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of six months experience in lawn maintenance required. Two or more years of experience highly preferred. Valid Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Basic knowledge of proper operation of mechanical and powered equipment used in grounds maintenance
Working knowledge of safety requirements involved with operation of required tools and equipment
Ability to operate mechanical and powered equipment used in grounds maintenance
Ability to work effectively with others
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS :
Duties are performed primarily in an outside setting. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and lift or move (more than 20 pounds). Environmental demands include wet / humidity, work near mechanical parts, work near high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
