Position Overview
The Programs Coordinator will work with the Programs team to alleviate hunger through both direct, immediate interventions and long-term strategies. The Programs Coordinator will provide operational and administrative support to partner agencies within The Food Bank’s network and engage in direct assistance with neighbors facing food insecurity, including assisting individuals with the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Medicaid application process. Duties include managing regular reporting information and standards, completing public assistance applications primarily over the phone, and providing support for other Programs initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong attention-to-detail and customer service skills, be comfortable with telephone-based intake processes, and have experience working with diverse populations.
Essential Functions
- Compile, complete, and analyze monthly reports based on data submitted by partners, pulled from internal systems, and collected from mobile pantries.
- Learn and operate within our internal data systems which may include CERES, Oasis Insights, and Meal Connect.
- Provide troubleshooting and partner support for The Food Bank network’s shared assistance tracking database
- Assist individuals in The Food Bank service area with SNAP and Medicaid application and processing procedures via phone support, in-person training and meetings at The Food Bank and other locations.
- Support food distribution and SNAP application efforts throughout the community, including attending outreach events at correctional facilities, food pantries, schools, resource fairs, etc.
- Support retail rescue efforts for partner agencies and The Food Bank
- Understand and support standards as required by Feeding America, Feeding Missouri, USDA, schools, MODSS, etc.
- Identify and resolve issues for community members / partner agencies / schools as necessary
- Work with Programs Team to create new initiatives and to evaluate and adjust existing programs as the needs of people experiencing food insecurity shift over time.
- Coordinate activities internally to support overall goal achievement for the Programs Team.
- Partner and collaborate with internal departments to facilitate efficient and effective delivery of services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s preferred
- Commensurate experience in the field of social work, community outreach, or government will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years customer service experience
Training and Skills
- Excellent data, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge and capability to operate within Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn and operate within internal data systems
- Ability to function at a high level of productivity, with strong organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous.
- Seasoned, experienced approach to managing multiple assignments with a proven ability to relate to staff, management, and interested parties for the benefit of The Food Bank.
- Ability to operate within a team framework and within the organizational mission
- Ability to establish credibility within area of responsibility and take ownership of decision making when appropriate
- Food Safety Certification (ServSafe Manager) must be secured within first year of employment
- Must have valid driver’s license and obtain a Class E within the first 60 days of employment
- Ability to lift 20 pounds

Pay Rate: $16 - $17.50 per hour
