Requirements
Job Purpose:
The position of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Outreach Supervisor is responsible for oversight of all direct SNAP Outreach. This is a working supervisor position that is responsible for leading the SNAP team and managing the state-led SNAP programming at The Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN). This position will work with the Nevada Department of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) to create a cohesive partnership that allows the SNAP Outreach Team to effectively assist potential SNAP clients in eligibility prescreening, application assistance and conducting SNAP interviews. The SNAP Outreach Supervisor will work to foster a positive image of the SNAP Program to encourage Community Partners and agencies to include SNAP Outreach into their current organizational resources.
Special Conditions or Certifications of Employment:
- Valid Nevada driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Required Education and Experience
- Bilingual Spanish skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or Community Health Field or equivalent.
- Community Health Worker Certified.
- Willing to complete the SNAP Application Assistance and Initial Interview Training.
- Willing to complete CPR Certification.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health or Community Health Field or equivalent non-profit or social service experience.
- SNAP Outreach and client interviewing experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
- Lead day- to- day efforts for SNAP Outreach Program, including but not limited to:
- Manage SNAP Outreach grant, including relationship with DWSS, grant reporting, and record-keeping.
- Reach out to community partners for potential new sites in order to keep the SNAP team updated and relevant to our population.
- Provide the SNAP Outreach calendar to partners on a monthly basis and create monthly work schedule for SNAP Outreach staff.
- Work with SNAP Outreach staff to assist with applications or clients that need elevated attention.
- Work with DWSS to complete and submit weekly and monthly application reports, as well as submission of telephonic signatures.
- Attend quarterly SNAP Demonstration Project calls with DWSS.
- Growth and development of the SNAP Outreach Program:
- Attend any conferences or meetings that provide information on SNAP or may bring benefits to the SNAP Outreach team.
- Provide ongoing training to community agencies throughout Northern Nevada to conduct SNAP eligibility prescreening and application assistance in their own necessary and appropriate communities.
- Responsible for all direct SNAP Outreach activities to increase access and participation in the SNAP Program including:
- Provide all potential SNAP clients with eligibility prescreening, application assistance, and conduct SNAP interviews.
- Distribution of SNAP promotional materials and advertising.
- Assist to special events such as health fairs upon request; to be conducted during or outside working hours at selected locations.
- Perform other job functions as requested or assigned. This may include assisting with other FBNN programs, activities, and special events.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct oversight over the SNAP Outreach Team, both Washoe County and rural staff members.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to use hands to operate computer a significant portion of the day.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Days and hours may vary from normal schedule when program schedule adjusts, or other special events arise.
