JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for managing The Food Depot’s Food Mobile 1.0 program and Food 4 Kids. Work focuses on providing excellent customer service to partnering community organizations, collaborating with various departments at The Food Depot, and fulfilling federal program requirements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages The Food Depot’s Food Mobile 1 Program:
- Provides continuous support for current Food Mobile sites including on the ground program support with loading/unloading and during distributions, when needed.
- Develops and maintains effective communication and working relationship with The Food Depot Operations counterpart for Food Mobile to ensure successful program operation.
- Creates menus for rotating inventory on the Food Mobile for every distribution.
- Schedules administrative staff to help assist at Food Mobile distributions, and checks in with staff members for any concerns or feedback.
- Collaborates with the Volunteer team to ensure volunteer coverage at Food Mobile distributions. Finds coverage through staff when needed and with proper approval from managers/Deputy Director.
- Plans changes to Food Mobile distributions with Distribution Manager and communicates to all staff.
- Creates and updates fliers for any changes to Food Mobile distributions for clients.
- Maintains open and frequent communication with the Food Mobile site partners for any schedule changes or concerns that may impact their distribution.
- Schedules community organizations to partner with during Food Mobile distributions.
- Consistently inputs accurate program data after each Food Mobile distribution.
- Plans for program evaluation and implements changes as appropriate with the Food Mobile program.
- Collaborates with the Distribution Manager and Food Mobile driver to support the development of new Food Mobile locations, including initial rollout at new sites.
Manages The Food Depot’s Food 4 Kids program:
- Support of school-based pantry site coordinators, training, site visits, data management, and new site development.
- Manages communication pathways between Food 4 Kids site coordinators and The Food Depot’s Operations team members to ensure order accuracy, timely deliveries, and budget management.
- Develops and maintains effective communication and working relationship with The Food Depot Operations counterpart for Food 4 Kids to ensure successful program operation.
- Oversees budget for Food 4 Kids and communicates necessary adjustments and needs as needed to The Food Depot’s leadership and program partners.
General Responsibilities:
- Assists with food distributions at Casita de Comida/Food Mobile 2.0 locations when needed.
- Maintains open and frequent communication with The Food Depot program partners.
- Collects feedback from clients and partners and implements changes as appropriate.
- Develops and maintains an excellent understanding of the hunger relief landscape, gaps in services, and community needs.
- Supports growth of The Food Depot’s rural food distribution programs as needed.
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts the success of the team above own interests.
- Complies with all The Food Depot policies, procedures and systems.
- Is consistently at work and on time.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned; assists other departments as requested; may work early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience. Work experience in the nonprofit sector or public education setting is preferred.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player; must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to interface with many diverse internal and external customers.
- Must be computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite of tools a must.
- Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
- Must be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks in an office/warehouse environment.
- Must perform well in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change.
- Must be able to work independently of as well as collectively with other staff members.
- Must be able to use general office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners.

Physical Environment
- Employee will spend 50% of the time actively preparing for or working at food distributions, 35% of the time working at a stationary computer terminal in a shared office space handling data and administrative tasks, 15% talking on the telephone interfacing with clients, community partners, program coordinators and volunteers.
- Position functions in an office and warehouse environment, and requires travel to locations within the service area.
- Employee will work at public facing food distributions periodically, including lifting parcels of food of approximately 30 pounds and being required to stand for time periods > 3 hours.
