The Food Pantries for the Capital District is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Development and Communications to lead our fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts.

As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our future.


What You'll Do:

  • Drive Fundraising Success: Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies to secure critical funding for our programs.
  • Elevate Our Brand: Craft compelling stories and oversee marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and public support.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, partners, and community leaders.
  • Innovate: Explore new strategies to maximize our reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans.
  • Oversee donor relations, stewardship, and cultivation.
  • Lead marketing and communications initiatives, including social media and public relations.
  • Manage a team of dedicated professionals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, communications, or marketing, with a proven track record of success in revenue generation and donor engagement.
  • 5 plus years of management/leadership experience.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to influence and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic and tactical fundraising and marketing initiatives, while remaining flexible and adaptable.
  • Effective team player who can work independently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with various technologies, including office software, fundraising tools, CRM systems, and social media platforms.
  • Passion for The Food Pantries' mission and a commitment to its goals.
  • Valid driver's license, basic budgeting knowledge, and a positive, proactive attitude.


Education and Experience:

  •  Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, communications, or marketing, with a proven track record of success in revenue generation and donor engagement.
