Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist will perform clinical laboratory procedures and quality assurance, and instrument/ environment maintenance. The Medical Technologist will also maintain cooperative working relationships with intradepartmental and interdepartmental staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs routine vitals checks, urine drug testing and blood draws in a designated medical specialty area, recognizes test inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective action including sharing results with the Practitioner and/ or clinical treatment staff.
· Performs clerical functions associated with the designated laboratory area.
· Contributes to the general laboratory functions and institutional needs. Performs specimen collection and processing duties according to policies established in the medical specialty area.
· Attends regular department staff meetings and in-service training.
· Attends and participates in the preparation and/or presentation of the laboratory continuing education programs.
· Observes laboratory and agency policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Education and Experience:
· Certified Phelbotomist and the successful completion of an accredited medical technology program or the equivalent training, education, and experience.
· ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized medical technology certification or categorical certification. (Note: Those with categorical certification only will be restricted to the discipline in which they hold the categorical certification.)
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
