Job Title: Theater Director – Summer Camp

Our summer camps run in week long sessions, and a 3 week rehearsal for our summer musical. Each camp focuses on a unique aspect of theatrical performance. Camps are designed to introduce young actors to the fundamentals of theater, including acting, character development, movement, voice projection, and storytelling. Person will need to direct an Acting camp and Triple Threat.
Campers will participate in engaging activities such as improvisation, scriptwriting, and character exploration to build confidence and creativity. Each camp session will culminate in a short performance, allowing students to showcase their talents for family and friends.
The camp experience at the Foundry is centered around providing a space for students to explore their creativity and express themselves through performance. While having fun is a priority, our curriculum also emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and storytelling techniques that inspire young minds.
Our mentors (teachers) are gifted in teaching and understand that theater is about encouraging students to bring their unique ideas to the stage. Camp activities are designed to allow for individual interpretation while still providing guidance on acting techniques and character development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach engaging theater camp sessions that encourage creativity, self-expression, and skill development.
- Develop fun and interactive lesson plans, including acting exercises, scene work, and performance techniques.
- Direct students in a short performance at the end of each camp session.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive camp environment.
- Provide individualized feedback to help campers grow as performers.
- Collaborate with other camp instructors and staff to create a cohesive and memorable camp experience.
- Utilize social media marketing strategies to promote camp performances and programs.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as budgeting and registration.
Qualifications:
- Experience in theater directing and teaching youth (ages 7-12), preferably in a camp setting.
- Strong knowledge of acting techniques, character development, and stage movement.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire and nurture creativity and confidence in young performers.
- Previou experience participating/directing a musical
Job Type: Seasonal, Part-timeSalary: $17 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
