Insurance Benefit Verification Specialist
Pay: 19 per hour
Location: Onsite – Plano, TX 75024
Shift: Monday to Friday 5 by 8
Duration: 6 months with possible extensions
Job Overview
We are looking for a detail oriented Insurance Benefit Verification Specialist for an onsite role for a 6 month contract with the potential for extension. This position involves verifying insurance benefits, handling pre authorizations and appeals, and maintaining accurate customer records.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance benefits by contacting insurance companies
- Initiate pre authorization requests and perform follow ups for outcomes
- File appeals for denied coverage as needed
- Maintain customer records related to benefit coverage, authorizations, denials, appeals, and insurance communications
- Coordinate with internal departments to obtain necessary information for benefit verification and authorization processing
- Provide customers with updates on authorization status, financial responsibility estimates, and collect co pays if applicable
- Apply knowledge of company policies, contracts, and guidelines to process cases accurately
- Respond to incoming correspondence and update customer records accordingly
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in insurance benefit verification or reviewing medical records
- Strong understanding of Medicare rules and managed care benefits and authorizations
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle phone and email communication professionally
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Education
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
- A related technical field is a plus
