Primary Purpose : As an Entry Level Truss Designer, your primary purpose is to embark on an exciting journey into the world of truss design. Guided by experienced mentors, you'll immerse yourself in the dynamic and fascinating field of truss design, developing the skills and knowledge essential to excel in this industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Truss Fundamentals : Gain a comprehensive understanding of trusses, including how they function, their advantages, limitations, and industry-specific terminology.
  • Blueprint Proficiency : Master the art of reading construction plans and details, becoming skilled in conducting roof and floor truss takeoffs.
  • Software Skills : Familiarize yourself with Alpine Truss Layout and Engineering computer programs while honing your mathematical abilities, which are vital for the role.
  • Effective Communication : Learn to communicate effectively with a range of professionals, including Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and Carpenters, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Order Processing : Develop the skills needed to process orders and maintain detailed job files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Math Proficiency : Strong math skills and a basic understanding of construction methods.
  • Computer Skills : Possess basic computer and typing skills.
  • Learning Attitude : Demonstrate the ability and willingness to exercise good judgment and remain open to learning opportunities.

  • Strongly Preferred :

  • ALPINE Skills : Familiarity with ALPINE software is a strong advantage.
  • Software Proficiency : Experience with Autocad design software.
  • Local Building Knowledge : Understanding of local building and framing practices.
  • Product Knowledge : Familiarity with construction materials and products.
  • Drafting Education : Completion of a two-year drafting school program is highly preferred.
  • Construction Experience : Prior construction framing experience is an asset.
