We are looking for an elementary teacher who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students & families, and is willing to add to the mission of our school: We seek to provide a safe, nurturing, learning community where students of different beliefs, races, ethnicities and economic circumstances are reconciled to God and one another by experiencing forgiveness by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We are an urban, private, Christian, missional school serving Pre-Kindergarten – 8th Grade students. Our average class sizes between 15-18 students.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION / Demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to support students’ academic & social/emotional learning. This includes helping elementary students be fully prepared to matriculate to the next grade by end of school year, and embrace the school’s core values found in our PEARLS (Performance, Excellence, Academics,
Reconciliation, Love)
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / Duties include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for courses taught
- Creates lesson plans, aligned with grade standards, which drives instruction through formative assessment and differentiation
- Maintains a safe, organized classroom which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration
- Is able to effectively manage teaching instructions while managing classroom disciplinary needs
- Uses assessments to inform planning and instruction
- Provide consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and send weekly newsletter to parents to keep them informed of class activities
- Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations.
- Uses computers and projectors/smart boards, and uses technology to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
- Willing to attend and participate in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators & other resources
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with school’s staff handbook
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge and application of appropriate teaching strategies and methods
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, general public and others having business with the school
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and equipment
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check
- Teacher certification with state of Missouri
- May be required to lift supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours for school related programming.
