SUMMARY
This position performs host activities within the restaurant with primary responsibility for ensuring exceptional service by creating memorable guest experiences with pride, passion, and heart. Primary responsibilities include positive guest recognition and relations; greeting and seating guests; anticipating guest’s needs; monitoring the flow of the restaurant including table turnover, guest arrival, guest departure and pace of the restaurant; and assisting service staff when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professionally answers all incoming phone calls and takes reservations utilizing appropriate standardized phone etiquette and dialogue.
- Provides positive guest recognition and relations through personal performance and attention to guest history, including familiarizing himself/herself with regular patrons and VIP guests.
- Greets guests in a timely and professional manner and escorts guests to tables. * Performs reservation confirmations.
- Works with the manager/supervisor on planning meal period seating strategy with an aggressive approach to selling the seats and maximizing revenues by strategic seating. * Assists patrons with coats and performs basic coat check functions as needed.
- Monitors and maintains cleanliness of dining room and foyer including but not limited to, music types and sound levels, lighting, temperature, hourly floor and side station cleanliness, and spot cleaning, etc.
- Monitors the flow of the restaurant including table turnover, guest arrival, guest departure and pace of the restaurant. * Monitors and observes guests’ dining experience. Ensures guests are satisfied with food and service and responds promptly and courteously to all requests.
- Responds to guest questions. Provides guest assistance, direction and information as needed. * Fields patron’s complaints and relays issues to management in a timely manner.
- Supports servers and bus staff on the floor with bussing dirty tables, cleaning floors, arranging tables, and filling water glasses. * Assists in coordinating activities of service staff to ensure proper table set-ups and prompt and courteous service to patrons. * Performs basic transactions such as the sale of to-go orders and gift card transactions utilizing the point-of-sale system.

- Assists management in calling service staff with schedule changes as needed and directed by management.
- Complies with local, state, and national regulations pertaining to food quality, cleanliness and sanitation standards, alcohol service, and safety.
- Attends required meetings, pre-meal meetings and training sessions as assigned/scheduled.
- Assists with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful and encouraging instruction.
- Complies with the organization’s sustainability standards (when applicable). * Complies with organizational policies and job standards.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, squat, and reach. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
