Job Title: Full-time Middle School Math Teacher

Location: French American Academy

Job Description:

The French American Academy is seeking a committed, passionate, and qualified Math Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in Mathematics and teaching, with a deep understanding of the latest education theories and practices, as well as current trends in education and professional development.

Key Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mathematics or other related fields
• At least 1-3 years of teaching experience
• An excellent understanding of child development, the latest education theories and practices, and current trends in education and professional development
• A growth mindset, with openness to feedback and a willingness to take risks
• Proficiency in Google Workspace applications including, but not limited to, Gmail, Calendar, Google Classroom, and Drive (Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Open to teach IB program and other subjects
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Develop engaging, student-centered lesson plans for grades 6-8 and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with complex learning profiles
• Attend regular department, faculty, and other meetings, ensuring that you stay aligned with the Academy's goals and directives
• Foster an inclusive working and community environment that encourages diversity and mutual respect
• Evaluate each student's progress in mathematical knowledge and skills, providing feedback and additional support as needed
• Ensure vertical alignment of coursework to provide students with a meaningful and comprehensive scope of study
• Effectively manage time to meet deadlines, adhere to a daily schedule, and structure classes to maximize opportunities for student learning
• Embrace authentic assessment, innovative pedagogies, discussion-based learning, and project-based learning
• Comfortable with technology, including using online texts, iPads, Learning Management Systems, and computer systems in a classroom setting
• Develop the participation of certain classes in mathematics competitions and take care of/take the lead on the organization of these competitions
• Set up and lead a math club after school hours
• Develop a Mathematics High School Program, aligned on state standards and school objectives
• Write articles on mathematics teaching methods aligned with the French American Academy curriculum and their application in classrooms
