Accounting Specialist II
Our company has an outstanding opportunity for a results-focused, highly driven and organized Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist, under the leadership of the Office Manager, is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records by reconciling bank accounts and managing the accounts payable process. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Bank Reconciliation
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily and monthly to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and company records.
- Monitor and track outstanding checks, deposits, and other reconciling items.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliation reports for management review.
- Investigate and resolve bank errors, unauthorized transactions, or discrepancies.
Accounts Payable
- Review and process invoices and purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Ensure timely payment to vendors and maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor accounts payable aging reports to ensure all invoices are processed and paid on time.
- Prepare invoices and vendor statements up to the execution of electronic payments, ACH transfers, and check runs.
General Accounting Support
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including proper documentation of all transactions.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Contribute to process improvements in bank reconciliation and accounts payable workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong Excel skills, including knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial records.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Demonstrate good administration and organizational skills.
Education and/or Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in bank reconciliation and accounts payable or a similar role.
Working Conditions:
- May involve occasional overtime during peak periods such as month-end or year-end closings.
