Position Summary
The Guest Services Associate (GSA) provides the first impression of the Palace for the visitors. The main role of the GSA is to guide our visitors through experiencing everything the Palace has to offer. From a range of duties such as checking in visitors, assist with booking tours, directing them to our gift shops, providing information about the Palace, situating them before a tour, the GSA ensures that the visitors have the best experience possible at the Iolani Palace.
Key Responsibilities
· Greet visitors with Aloha
· Assist with checking in pre-booked visitors
· Assist walk-in visitors with booking tours
· Provide pre-tour orientation to visitors
· Engage in appropriate and relevant conversation with visitors during waiting time
· Provide directions to visitors within Palace grounds and surroundings
· Be an ambassador of the Palace, sharing cultural knowledge and experience
· Ensure visitors’ safety by observing all surroundings and interactions
· Be the information source for nearby attractions and other related cultural sites
· Report to Guest Services Supervisor any visitors and operational issues
· Promote patronage to our gift shop
· Assist visitors throughout their tour at the Palace
· Assist supervisor with overall operational planning
· Participate in professional training opportunities
· Coverage for other departments as needed
· Other duties as required
Position Requirements
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Flexibility with schedule to work weekends and evenings as needed
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Proficiency with POS system and operating general office equipment
- Ability to learn basic phrases in multiple languages to direct visitors as appropriate
- Must be sensitive to cultural issues and the significance of the Palace to Hawaii's communities.
Physical Requirements
· Sitting or standing for majority of an 8 hour shift
· Stair climbing
· Lifting < 20 lbs
· Working in a semi-outdoor environment
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $20.01 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 19 per week
