What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Line Advocate position at The Friendship Center?
Summary: This is a stipend-based nonexempt position, with an hourly wage for time worked. This position is responsible for providing trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and support to victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking on the crisis line.
Description: The Friendship Center operates 24/7 crisis services. Outside of Monday – Friday 9am-4pm office hours and on occasional holidays and administrative days, our crisis line is staffed by a rotation of Direct Service Advocates and Crisis Line Advocates. This position would cover at least one weekend every 4-6 weeks (including some holidays), 4pm Friday – 9am Monday on our crisis line. This on-call time can be spent remotely via cell phone while staying within cell service, the ability to respond in-person within 1 hour, and maintaining access to a confidential space (such as a bedroom, office, car, etc.) to take calls. You are able to sleep during your shift. This position primarily works over the phone talking to clients. There are circumstances where in-person response will be needed.
