Our summer program offers hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and innovative projects that spark creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in students ages 4–13.
Position Overview
We’re looking for cheerful, outgoing, and positive Summer Camp Instructors to lead and support a variety of STEAM-focused activities. You will be responsible for engaging campers in coding, robotics, engineering design, and creative fabrication projects in a fun, supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who love working with children, have a passion for STEAM, and enjoy a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Engagement
- Lead daily STEAM workshops, hands-on activities, and group projects.
- Teach basic coding (Scratch, Blockly, or similar) and possibly advanced concepts (Python, C , etc.)—training provided if needed.
- Foster an inclusive, positive camp atmosphere to ensure every camper feels welcomed and supported.
Project Facilitation
- Guide campers through the engineering design process, encouraging them to brainstorm, prototype, and test their ideas.
- Introduce and supervise basic fabrication tools (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters) and design software (TinkerCAD, Onshape, etc.), if applicable.
- Demonstrate and support campers in using Minecraft, Roblox Studio (Lua), or other game-based learning platforms.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work with the Camp Director and fellow instructors to plan and refine daily schedules and lesson plans.
- Engage in a startup culture environment: be adaptable, proactive, and willing to pitch in where needed.
- Maintain open communication with other staff members to ensure a cohesive, organized program.
Camper Safety & Environment
- Supervise campers’ safety at all times, ensuring proper use of tools and equipment.
- Assist with set-up, clean-up, and organization of materials to keep learning spaces tidy and functional.
- Manage camper behavior constructively, following guidelines and protocols for a safe, respectful camp environment.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (required); college coursework or degree in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred). Prior experience working with children is highly beneficial.
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with coding (Scratch/Blockly), 3D printing, or robotics. Willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
- Personal Traits: Creative, patient, energetic, and enthusiastic about helping children learn. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team Mindset: Able to collaborate effectively, take initiative, and adapt to changing schedules.
- Availability: Must be available full-time or part-time during the summer (June–August). Typical camp hours are 7:30am–5pm, Monday–Friday (some flexibility may be required). Feel free to message me for more info.
