Retail Sales Associate/Cashier/Garden Center Associate/Customer Sales Associate

Our retail garden center is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team, with a focus on register and customer service.

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time/Seasonal

Compensation: Based on experience

Duties:

• Utilize a point of sales cash register system to check out customers
• Assisting customers in their plant, hard goods, and gift shop sales/purchases
• Help resolve plant questions and concerns, or direct customers to someone who can
• Inform supervisor of needs spotted around the garden center (example: When a particular product needs to be restocked)
• Add value to the customers experience through positive interactions
• Answer phones in a professional and timely manner
• Greeting customers as they enter and exit the facility, and also directing them to appropriate locations within the store
• Assist customers to their vehicle with purchases
• Performing routine housekeeping tasks (example: sweeping, removing trash, keeping check out area clean, vaccuming, cleaning office area and bathrooms, etc.)
• Receive and unload product

Education: High school education or GED

Experience: Ideal candidate must have basic plant knowledge. Experience using POS system is a must.

• Basic plant knowledge
• Capable of working in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment that can be demanding at times
• Personable, and comfortable with interacting with the public and resolving customer issues
• Flexible schedule is a must as hours may vary (mornings, into evenings), candidate will need to be available for weekend work
• Must have the ability to perform tasks under varied weather conditions (hot, cold, & rain)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong and clear verbal communication skills
• Must be able to receive and follow through on complex tasks
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Must be able to work overtime when needed
• Must be able to multitask, prioritize and ask for help when needed
• Must be able to be on your feet for entire work shift
• Basic math skills
• Lift 25 pounds comfortably
