Located in North Hollywood, The Garland Hotel is looking for a Weekends Only Seasonal Lobby Bar & Pool Host to fit within a dynamic group of individuals offering authentic customer service with a menu that is intricate, fun, and detailed.
Position: Lobby Bar & Pool Host/Hostess
Department: The Garland
Division: Food & Beverage
Position Purpose: Managing seating operations of Lobby Bar & Pool to provide ease of flow for service staff and kitchen. Provide positive first and last impression to all guests entering and leaving the Courtyard, Lobby Bar, and Pool areas
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide positive first and last impression of guests when entering and leaving the pool/lobby lounge.
- Manage distribution of seat covers to service staff both fairly and for flow of restaurant to prevent any delayed service by staff.
- Effectively take reservations in person to best suit flow of business for restaurant efficiency.
- Able to correctly discuss, identify, and detail all food and beverage items on the menu.
- Maintains a neat, clean, organized, safe work environment (including Pool, Lobby Bar, and Courtyard areas)
- Manage seating of guests to effectively keep kitchen menu preparation timed correctly.
- Must be proficient in multi tasking.
- Must comply with opening and closing as well as running side work necessities.
- Direct and consistent communication with the culinary, service staff, and management team.
- Listens to and resolves customer complaints regarding service, product and personnel.
- Must effectively process service responsibilities from service staff. Eg. Servers and Bartenders
- Consistently deliver on Standards of Service (e.g. Sequence of Service, proper phone etiquette and verbiage, proper greeting and farewell to guests, etc.)
- Meticulously cleans and organizes host stand
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and change behaviors based on feedback by manager.
- Routinely shows up to work in a timely fashion prepared to work.
Position Requirements:
Able to read, write and speak verbally in English. Excellent communication skills and familiarity with the hospitality industry. Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with all department management, staff, personnel and general public.
Education: High school or equivalent
Experience: Prefer One year or more of service assistance in a upscale dining outlet.
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to the Pool/Lobby Bar Manager
Exemption Status:
Non-Exempt.
