Job Purpose:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Steward to join our esteemed culinary team at The Gasparilla Inn & Club. The Steward will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and dining areas, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to sanitation standards. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Job Duties:
- Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn and Clubs 4 Steps to Memorable Service.
- Exhibits the Gasparilla Inns Core Values.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met in all kitchen and dining areas, including but not limited to dishwashing areas, storage rooms, and equipment.
- Reports safety concerns or mechanical problems with any equipment to the Chef for prompt attention.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils using appropriate sanitation procedures.
- Organize and store cleaned items in designated areas to maintain kitchen efficiency.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations and dining areas before, during, and after service.
- Handle and dispose of garbage and recycling in accordance with resort policies and environmental regulations.
- Support kitchen staff by assisting in basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables or preparing garnishes.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management of replenishment needs.
- Uphold safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Assignments:
This position is both an administrative and active position and will require equipment to be moved weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. This position may be exposed to hazards such as adverse weather conditions, loud noise, frequent and extra working hours due to demands of events, and other related factors such as upset guests if something does not goes as originally planned. You must be comfortable with water safety and be able to respond to water safety events on tours, which could potentially become high stress situations. This position is also required to work events during weekend hours, and nights as determined by event needs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a stewarding role or related hospitality position is an asset.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and cleaning techniques.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and organization.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours pending business levels.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
- Willingness to work in hot, humid conditions and around kitchen equipment.
- Must be ServSafe certified or able to be certified
- Must be willing and able to pass a background and drug screening
