The Gathering Inn is a versatile agency with multiple sites serving more than 300 individuals, including men, women, and children, on a daily basis. We have various locations spread across Placer and Sacramento County.
This Medical Respite program will serve to help ill or injured unhoused patients recover after hospital discharge under medical supervision. Individuals will also receive support services to transition to stable housing.
The Gathering Inn, through its comprehensive array of services and collaboration in the community, provides cost-effective and outcome-oriented services for unhoused individuals.

As a Monitor at Medical Respite, you will play a vital role in providing support and ensuring a quality service to all patients of the organization in a compassionate and professional manner. Objectives include supportive interaction with patients and co-workers, assessment of patient needs, and performance of all work duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Gathering Inn and maintain a patient-first mentality at all times.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Medical Respite program including intake procedures, room assignments, and maintaining a safe, secure, and clean environment for residents.
- Respond to emergencies, mental health crises, or other critical incidents within the program. Coordinate with emergency services and provide immediate support and assistance to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients and co-workers.
- Supervise patient activities and respond to all patient questions and concerns.
- Model positive, professional behavior for patients, including appearance and communication.
- Address any behavioral concerns that create disharmony, are against policy, or pose a safety risk in a calm, non-threatening manner.
- Must employ a range of de-escalation techniques to defuse tense situations, reduce aggression, and prevent escalation of conflicts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, services provided, incidents, and other required documentation in a timely, consistent manner.
- Document and notify management of patient concerns, potential workflow problems and/or any exceptions to policy that can impact program security.
- Work collaboratively with program staff, volunteers, and external service providers to ensure effective communication, coordination of services, and a holistic approach to supporting guests.
- Performs facility maintenance and cleaning. (stocking pantry, sanitation, toilets, moving furniture, etc.)
- May be required to transport guests and/or belongings in company vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of homelessness, substance use disorder, mental illnesses, or physical ailments.
- Experience working in healthcare setting a plus
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
- Must be available to work Weekends.
- Must be available to work evening and or overnight shifts.
