Position Summary : The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing various maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of The Center's buildings and equipment. This includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Regularly inspect and perform preventative maintenance on key building systems (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
  • Support the facilities manager in drafting and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of The Center's building exteriors (i.e. Groundskeeping, landscaping, pest control).
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace damaged building components (i.e. drywall, flooring, ceilings).
  • Perform cleaning, carpentry, and painting tasks.
  • Ensure assigned equipment is in proper working order and available for use.
  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all building equipment.
  • Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, organized and functional environment.
  • Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
  • Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and ensure safety standards are followed throughout the facility (local, state and federal).
  • Participates in the emergency preparedness planning team.
  • Applies or assists with application for required environmental permits.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies; reorders as needed.
  • Assist with building renovations and upgrades.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Additional Responsibilities :
  • Must work a flexible schedule, including Sundays and evenings, as necessary.
  • Will be trained on security responsibilities.
  • Always maintain professional and courteous behavior and provide excellent customer service to all building users.

Qualifications :

  • Must be mechanically inclined and have basic shop skills (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry).
  • Must be able to work with various materials and tools and operate heavy equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Educational Background and Work Experience :

  • At least two years of related experience is required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
  • Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, and other hazards.
