Scrum Master
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scrum Master to support a mission-critical contract with the US Navy. The Scrum Master will work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, ensuring that agile methodologies are followed and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospectives, ensuring efficient and effective meetings.
- Remove roadblocks and impediments that hinder the team’s progress, ensuring smooth execution of work.
- Serve as a servant-leader, fostering collaboration and communication between team members, stakeholders, and the Product Owner.
- Ensure that the team is following Agile principles and best practices, and continuously help improve processes to increase team efficiency and delivery quality.
- Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure that the backlog is well-groomed, prioritized, and understood by the development team.
- Track and report on team performance, including sprint burndown, velocity, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Mentor and coach team members on Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and self-organization techniques.
- Act as a liaison between the development team and external stakeholders, including US Navy representatives, to ensure project alignment with client needs and priorities.
- Identify and mitigate risks and issues that could impact project timelines or delivery.
- Ensure compliance with the US Navy’s policies, security requirements, and government regulations as they apply to Agile development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master, working in Agile/Scrum environments, preferably with government or defense contracts.
- Certifications: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), or equivalent Agile certification.
- Security Clearance: Active U.S. government security clearance (or eligibility to obtain clearance) is preferred.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Agile principles and the Scrum framework.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- Proven ability to resolve conflicts and remove impediments that hinder team progress.
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in working with distributed or remote teams is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with military or defense contracting, particularly within the US Navy or similar government agencies.
- Familiarity with government compliance standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
- Knowledge of other Agile frameworks or certifications (e.g., SAFe, Kanban) is a plus.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools
