Overview
The Research Portfolio Specialist I is responsible in providing institutional-level sponsored programs administration services including creating and maintaining relationships with researchers and program teams on behalf of the Office of Research Management (ORM).
Location: This position will be located in our corporate office (917 Pacific Avenue) in Tacoma, WA. There will be some telework options available.
Responsibilities
• Review all budget expenditures and charge requests to ensure compliance with approved budget, researcher and or program team approval, Uniform Guidance compliance, and verify that purchase does not require prior approval from sponsor
• Coordinate equipment and materials procurement, and travel for program teams• Assist with facilitating regular meetings with researchers and program teams to discuss project progress, challenges, and questions on upcoming phases (no less than quarterly)• Track reporting deadlines and provide research teams with templates for technical report submissions• Ensure accuracy of monthly budget reports and distribute to researcher and program teams for active projects• Provide support of study startup and closeout activities in collaboration with OAM• Monitor proposal status and advise researcher and program team on requirements and submission deadlines• Support administrative components of proposal submissions, such as completing forms and formatting documents in accordance with sponsor requirements• Ensure applicable award documentation (including approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.) are provided to OAM for maintaining and updating project files• Conduct general funding searches for researchers and program teams
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required (1 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement)• Minimum of one (1) year grants, contracts, or clinical trials administration preferred• Ability to work independently and proactively is required• Strong written and oral communication skills with a high level of customer service required• Advanced grammar skills and technical editing ability required• Computer skills including intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software required• Experience with industry-sponsored awards preferred• Research or healthcare background and knowledge of DoD process and procedural knowledge preferred
